Thanks so much for sharing!

You get way more than just a holiday here at Pitch & Canvas. We provide a quality relaxed environment to enjoy your hard-earned time off with your partner and family. Time spent outdoors has been proven to help both physical and mental health, lower blood pressure, and lower anxieties. This means you become more relaxed and less focused on the daily strains your use too. Adults, children, even teenagers, are calmer and less anxious meaning communication is increased and almost definitely so are fun levels!

And it all starts with staying with us here at Pitch & Canvas.

Would you like your next holiday to be spent relaxing and having fun with your family?

YES! Time outdoors is such a mood lifter.

In 2019 we had 3 families all booked in to stay for a long weekend. They all arrived around the same time on the Friday night and after checking in at reception proceeded to their pitches and began to get set up. The atmosphere was fun, they’d just arrived and were looking forward to the weekend ahead. Less than 5 minutes had passed when one of the children, a boy of around 10 years old, came into my office and politely asked for the Wi-Fi code. I smiled and explained here at Pitch & Canvas we don’t have guest Wi-Fi as there are an abundance of things to do without it and lots of other children to ‘hang out’ (play was far to young a description for his age) with. He looked shell shocked. No Wi-Fi! But…. 🤯 Yep that is right, no Wi-Fi. He genuinely looked horrified and I could see the flash of fear in his eyes of what was he going to do for 3 whole days with no smart phone or tablet. Minecraft! Oh my days, how could he have 3 days away from Minecraft! After explaining some of the many things he may like to try, football, rounders, exploring etc, he left the office extremely disgruntled. I could hear him go back to his mum and say with disgust there was no WiFi, to which she replied Good! Now go play with the others. Poor Kid looked like he had been kicked in the teeth🥺. 15 minutes later I went on to site to help some guests and was greeted with the best sight. The Boy! The Boy hanging out with the other kids and laughing as they were all telling funny stories. For the rest of the weekend I did not see him sit down once apart to eat. He played rounders with the other kids and adults, made new friends, explored, even did a local nature trail!

My point of this story is that sometimes we should try coming out of our comfort zone and trying something different. We actively encourage all our guests young and old to properly switch off from the pressures of everyday life which is why we have no Wi-Fi.

When was the last time you really switched off?

We LOVE 💖 our holidays with you. The kids have so much fun and we all meet new people, it's wonderful. We were very lucky this year to be able to have our holiday (post lockdown) and it couldn't have come at a better time. So relaxing and such a beautiful area to explore. Hope you are all keeping well. X

We stayed with you one summer (the summer all the grass died) and my little boy was the same who was probably about 6 at the time. He still remembers the day we all played football together 💕💕

😂😂😂 Love this - we need more WiFi free time!

2 different types of break away, each with their own appeal to different people.

A) An action packed break with lots of paid for entertainment, amusements, and nightlife on a busy commercial site with lots going on and lots of people.

B) A quiet relaxed holiday enjoying local cheap / free activities and days out exploring the surrounding area and evenings spent having a BBQ with conversations. Possibly a game of cards, and toasting marshmallows on the campfire watching the night sky.

Which do you prefer and why?

B for me, not sure the kids would appreciate it though! My 'holiday' is usually Download Festival, without the kids of course!

Definitely Be we love it at Pitch n Canvas XX

Great place. Lovely and relaxing. Cant wait to get back 👍👍

Love it there , and miss pitch and canvas x

I think we’ve enjoyed both over the years but we need way more B in the world especially now!

As a child, in the late 70s / early 80s, we always spent our family holidays camping. Tents back then were a basic affair and airbeds were a far cry from the ones we have today. But do you know what, I loved it! I loved playing outside, spending time with my Mum, Dad, and brother, making friends and then becoming pen pals (yes the good old days of writing), and I loved sleeping under canvas and waking to the wonderful muffled sounds of the countryside and smell of bacon cooking on the old camp cooker.

As I got older and began my own camping adventures, I soon found most modern campsites are far more than they were when my passion began. Club houses, play parks, swimming pools, pubs, tarmacked roads, and much more. These have a fabulous appeal to some people, but I enjoyed the back to basics and simpler side of things. However, I also discovered the one thing I did like about modern expensive sites were the much nicer toilet and shower facilities! It wasnt easy to find sites that ticked all the boxes I was looking for.

All these memories of years spent camping, and my likes and dislikes, are the foundation of what we aspire to be here at Pitch & Canvas.

Set amongst the beautiful Cheshire countryside, fabulous views of the rolling hills of the Sandstone Trail, and spacious pitches with large open areas for children to play. Aimed at families that wish to spend some quality time together, to reconnect with each other, and themselves. You will find no club house, play park, or even WiFi so quality time really is of the essence. Children playing rounders, families playing games, walking, and exploring the surrounding area, BBQs with quality local sourced meat, night times spent sitting round the fire toasting marshmallows - a step back in time.

Whilst we enjoy simplicity, our facilities are of a high standard with a clean, modern shower and toilet block and a new facility building being built starting in 2021, we encompass basic camping but with high end facilities.

Different sites appeal to different people, what’s your idea of a great campsite and what would make it special?
