Some of happiest memories, definitely my parents every year, taking my brother and I camping for our summer family holiday.
2 weeks in our trusty orange Cabanon fabric tent, blazing sunshine or force 9 gales and storms. We would have 2 weeks in a farmer’s field in Cornwall, or nestled away in the sand dunes at Shell Island. These were some of the best holidays I have ever had, and my family still fondly reminisce now about these times.
Our days were filled with fun, playing on the beach, or visiting a local sight-seeing attraction. Nights would be spent in the tent playing cards and board games with hot coco and treats. Mum would always bake a fruitcake to take with us and we would have a slice on an afternoon with a cup of tea. Boiled eggs for breakfast, and sometimes a full English, with a delicious supper at night or a real treat of fish and chips straight out the paper! Simple things, priceless to us.
Quality family holidays don’t have to cost the earth, we’ve found from experience, children just want to be involved. Playing games together as family and have some much-needed downtime helps build the memories of our childhood that stay with us forever.
This was the reason behind creating Pitch & Canvas.
I was so lucky to have experienced this time with my family. We wanted to create an environment where people can take a step back, and breath. Properly breath, and relax, and most importantly reconnect. Not just with themselves but their loved ones too.
The journey began with a small pop-up campsite for a local festival. The seed was planted and we continued to grow! Stage 1 was installing 2 camping pods and a couple of pitches for tents. Year on year we grew to where we are today.
2 statics, 2 pods, 2 bell tents, 50 pitches, plus a rally field. We have grown considerably, however we have maintained the small uncommercialised feel people love about the site.
Family focused, family run, and with the personal touch, we will continue to maintain that focus.
